Trivia Crack Answer: Samoa
About the last country to see the sun set
Samoa is the last country to see the sun set on any given day. Samoa is an island nation that is located approximately equidistant between Hawaii and New Zealand. Samoa was ruled by New Zealand until 1962. Previously, Germany, Britain and the US had fought over who should have control over the Samoan islands. Because of Samoa’s eastern location, it is the last country to see the sunset. It used to be considered east of the International Date Line, which would have made it the first to see the sun set on any day. In 2011, the Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele, announced that they were moving the IDL to the east of the country, making it west of the line and therefore the last to see the sun set. Each nation is allowed to make their own laws about time zones, which is why this is possible. Generally, the time zones are agreed upon internationally, but it is not necessary required. Samoa is located just south of the equator. It was not always inhabited by people. Scientists do not currently know how people reached the Samoan islands originally. Human habitation has caused a large loss of rainforests. Many of the species on the islands are only found there, making their preservation very important.
