One of Margarita Island’s four cities is the capital of the state of Venezuela it belongs to, Nueva Esparta. Margarita Island is duty-free, making it very popular for tourists as many goods can bought much more cheaply. Margarita Island has also been the host of the Caribbean Series twice.
