Snow White is originally a German fairy tale that was released in 1812 through the Grimms’ Fairy Tales, a collection released by The Brothers Grimm. The Brothers Grimm were Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, German cultural researchers, linguists, lexicographers and academics. They focused much on folklore in the 19th century. Their first collection of these stories was called, ‘Children’s Household Tales’. Snow White, which was a story included in this collection, begins with a queen that dies giving birth to a girl named Snow White. The King takes a new wife who is classically evil and narcissistic, a theme discussed through a magic mirror she possesses. The qualities of the magic mirror is the user may ask it a question to which the mirror will never lie. The new queen’s repeated question is ‘Who is the fairest in the land?’ The mirror answers that the Queen is the fairest in the land every morning until Snow White turns seven. This is where the main plot of the story begins.
